Latinx Heritage Month
The Latino Community Resource Center is proud to celebrate the cultures, contributions, and resilience of Latinx, Hispanic and Latino-identified communities around the world. The commemoration begins on September 15 and extends until October 15 due to the anniversaries of the independence of several Latin American countries occurring during this time frame.

Latinx Heritage Month Kick-Off cosponsored by Student Life and Engagement
Join the Latino Community Resource Center as we celebrate the start of Latinx Heritage Month where those in attendance will experience a taste of Latinx culture through music, live performances, games, and food. The event will be at the MUC Plaza on Wednesday, September 15th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Aventura Cultural: Vejigante Masks
Learn more about the Latino culture through arts and crafts! As we continue celebrating Latino culture during Latinx Heritage Month, the Latino Community Resource Center will be hosting an event where you can make your own vejigante masks. Don't know what those are? Well, come on down and find out!
Join us on Tuesday, September 21st from 11 PM to 2 PM in the LCRC (MUC 115). Drop-in at any time! You're sure to have a good time! There will also be free food for those in attendance.
"In the Heights" Showing
Come down to this year's Latinx Heritage Month Movie Night where will be showing "In the Heights," a musical celebrating the rich Latino culture through vibrant song and dance woven around the lives of characters with big dreams for their lives. Join us on Wednesday, September 22nd at 6 PM.
Doors open @ 6 PM at the Clement Auditorium and the movie will start at 7 pm. Free snacks will be served! Bring a friend and come have a fun time!
Confident In My Skin
In collaboration with other university departments, the Latino Community Resource Center presents to you "Confident in my Skin!". Friday, September 24 at 2:00 PM in the LCRC (MUC 115).
Come join us as we discuss what colorism is, how sectors like the beauty industry have played a role in it, and learn to better recognize it. There will be food for those in attendance.
Honoring Latino Military Heroes
The Military Student Center in collaboration with the Latino Community Resource Center is hosting a function honoring Latinos in the military. Join us at the MUC Ballroom on Tuesday, September 28th at 3 PM.
El Centro After Hours
The Latino Community Resource Center is now launching a brand-new program: El Centro After Hours!
With a focused initiative on mental health, the LCRC, in collaboration with the Department of Psychological Science and Counseling, will be staying open till a later time to offer students a safe space to navigate through problems and emotional concerns. The group sessions will be on a bi-weekly basis throughout the fall semester at the LCRC (MUC 115). If you need a space to study but are not interested in the group sessions, you are welcome to come by the center. Our first El Centro After Hours will be on September 14th with a group session starting at 6:30 pm. If you are coming to study you may join us starting at 5 pm. We will have snacks and free coffee for those who join us!

FAFSA One-on-One Assistance
The FAFSA application opens today, October 1! Struggling to fill it out? Don't understand what it's saying? Don't know what to do? A representative from financial aid will be helping anyone who has questions related to the FAFSA.
Come to the LCRC (MUC 115) on Friday, October 1, 2021, to receive help in filling out the FAFSA. There will be snacks!
Spectrum Event: "Do All Latinx Think The Same?
There are many similarities among the Latino community, but that doesn't mean we all think the same... or does it? The Latino Community Resource Center will be hosting an interactive event where Latinos will be able to express their thoughts and opinions on different ideas and questions surrounding Latino culture and life.
We will be hosting this event on Wednesday, October 6 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM @ MUC 115 (LCRC).
Everyone may fall on different sides of the spectrum when it comes to expressing these ideas, so be ready to have an open mind and be respectful towards others' opinions. It will be a learning experience for everyone. There will be food for those in attendance.
