COVID-19 Weekly Update: Nov. 7

(Posted Nov. 7, 2020)

COVID-19 is scary but you don't need to panic

Austin Peay has developed plans, guidelines and risk categories to help ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors. Emergency Management, Student Affairs, Human Resources and many other areas are working to ensure people are quarantining when necessary and notifying individuals who may have experienced an exposure.
There may be an instance where someone you know has tested positive, and they may have been on campus in the same areas as you. If you have followed the guidelines of wearing a mask, washing hands, not touching your face and staying six feet or more apart, you have not experienced an exposure.
If you're unsure if you've been exposed, please contact Emergency Management for advice. For more information, contact Lynn Fisher, director of APSU Emergency Management, at fisherl@apsu.edu or 221-7555.

Basketball season is coming

The OVC recently released this year's basketball schedule, and we can't wait to watch the Govs play.
Please do your part so our fans can visit the Dunn to cheer on Austin Peay. Wear masks in public. Stay six feet apart. Don't go to large gatherings. By taking these steps, we also will be ready for all the other sports this spring.

Scanning QR Codes

To help us effectively contact trace any positive cases on campus, all students, faculty and staff need to "check in" when they enter certain buildings, offices and classrooms, sit at community tables or visit other communal spaces. To check in, scan the QR code at these spaces using the PeayMobile app.

Child Learning Center

The Child Learning Center has had some challenges this semester with exposures from children and parents. The center has implemented plans and cleaning routines to protect the health and safety of the center's children. Thank you, Claudia Rodriquez and the staff at the center, for all you do for our university and community.

Please Self Report

Austin Peay State University relies on community members to report data regarding positive COVID-19 tests, exposures, self-quarantining, recovery from COVID-19 and being released from quarantine. Even though we report positive cases to University administrators, that does not mean the person contracted the virus on campus. It only means that a member of our community has tested positive. To make a report, fill out the form at the link below:

The numbers provided are active cases being tracked by University administration. Our data is reliant upon students, faculty and staff filling out the COVID-19 form on the APSU COVID-19 Website, http://www.apsu.edu/coronavirus.
