Former Austin Peay State University student Calvin Lockett was eliminated from NBC’s hit singing competition “The Voice” on Tuesday night.

He faced off in the Knockout Round against Myracle Holloway who performed “Can We Talk” by Tevin Campbell. The show did not air Lockett’s performance of “You’ll Be in My Heart” by Phil Collins or his mentoring session with Taylor Swift.

Lockett posted the following message to his followers on Facebook:

“But this is not the end, it’s only the beginning. Repeat. This was a huge leap for me. I worked really hard, and I’m really proud of myself. Thank you, Gwen and ‘The Voice.’ Thank you to my family and my friends for all the love and the support that you’ve given me these last few months. And to all of you, man, geesh, I’m so grateful. I wasn’t sure what I wanted before, but I’m sure now. And it’s more. I’m here, and we’re just getting started. Here’s to the next chapter.”

You can see what’s next for Lockett by following him on Twitter or Instagram @calvinlockett_.

The winners of the Knockout Rounds will comprise the Top 20 and move on to the live shows. “The Voice” airs at 7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays.

Lockett is the son of Lynnita and Calvin Lockett, pastors at Christ The Healer Church in Clarksville. He lives in Durham, North Carolina.
