In the News: Gipson’s sideline attire honors our military community

National college basketball outlet Mid-Major Madness recently spotlighted Austin Peay State University men's basketball head coach Corey Gipson and the deeper meaning behind his signature sideline military uniform. Created in collaboration with retired Army Maj. Gen. Walt Lord, the uniform serves as a heartfelt homage to Montgomery County’s extensive veteran population, the nearby Fort Campbell community, and the 35% of APSU students who are military-affiliated. The feature also explores how the Governors have embedded this culture into the program—from annual pre-season training with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Night Stalkers) to building a championship culture grounded in loyalty and service.
