APSU partners with county Emergency Medical Service for new EMT class this fall

campus

The Austin Peay State University Office of Continuing Education, in collaboration with Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service (EMS), is launching a new Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course this fall. Austin Peay’s EMT course will prepare students for the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians certification and exciting EMS careers.

To become an EMT, individuals must earn National Registry for Emergency Medical Technician certification.

EMTs are typically the first to respond on the scene during an emergency. In order to provide quality care to their patients, EMTs must be able to conduct patient assessments, assess emergency medical conditions, administer appropriate emergency care and use appropriate transportation procedures.

The EMS profession is constantly evolving, and it is essential to remain current with changing technology and practices. Classes will be at the new, state-of-the-art Montgomery County EMS training facility.   Students will learn from the leaders in the industry. Austin Peay EMT instructors are certified, and they have extensive experience in the EMS profession.

The course is only 14 weeks, with classes meeting from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Qualified graduates from the course will have preference from competitive hiring lists for vacant EMT positions in Montgomery County.

For information on the course, visit the APSU EMT website.
