APSU accepting applications for 2019-20 Military Alumni Chapter scholarships
Austin Peay State University is accepting student applications for two Military Alumni Chapter scholarships for the 2019-20 academic year. The APSU Military Alumni Chapter was founded in October 2012 for the purpose of supporting and recognizing military-related APSU alumni.
In just three short years, the organization was able to endow two significant scholarships:
- The Military Alumni Chapter Scholarship Endowment was established by the chapter on July 31, 2013.
- The CSM(R) Sidney Brown Scholarship Endowment was created on July 17, 2014, to honor the accomplishments of retired Command Sergeant Major Sidney Brown, an APSU alumnus.
Endowments are permanently restricted funds managed by the Investment Committee of the Austin Peay State University Foundation.
“We are honored to facilitate the educational endeavors of our students through establishing endowments,” CW4(R) Joe Shakeenab, APSU Military Alumni Chapter president, said.
Qualified applicants will include any active duty service member, honorably discharged service member, spouse or dependent of a service member or student enrolled in the APSU ROTC program. Current students must be in good standing and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to be eligible.
Award amounts will vary based on the value of the endowment and the spending plan of the Foundation. Funds should be used for educational expenses only. To renew a scholarship, recipients must be enrolled as full-time students at APSU, meet University admission requirements and reapply each school year.
The deadline to submit an application is March 1, 2019. To apply, visit http://www.apsu.edu/scholarships/
Earlier this year, the CW3 (R) Scott Schroeder Scholarship Endowment and the Mrs. Joyce Luster Scholarship Endowment were also created. Applications for these additional scholarships will be available in the near future.
