CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Austin Peay State University (APSU) has received a generous gift from The Ivy Endowment Circle to establish the Glistine Green Jones Scholarship Endowment. The endowment honors Glistine Green Jones’ legacy of mentorship, service, and leadership within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Kappa Rho Chapter.

“Honoring Ms. Jones through this endowment means so much to us because of the impact she had on our sorority and the Kappa Rho Chapter,” the Ivy Endowment Circle said. “The lessons she shared about sisterhood, service, and scholarship have stayed with us since the chapter was chartered in 1976. We hope this scholarship gives us a chance to pass those same values on to the young women of Kappa Rho today.”

Jones’ legacy of service continues through the Kappa Rho Chapter, which serves both the APSU campus and Clarksville community. The chapter carries out Alpha Kappa Alpha’s commitment to “Service to All Mankind” through targets focused on community outreach, social justice, family empowerment, environmental enhancement, and economic wealth.

Her impact extended beyond establishing Kappa Rho at Austin Peay. Throughout her life, she has remained committed to education, mentorship, volunteerism, and community empowerment, values that continue to be reflected through the chapter’s emphasis on scholarship and service.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of The Ivy Endowment Circle and their commitment to honoring Glistine Green Jones,” said Kris Phillips, vice president for Alumni, Engagement and Philanthropy. “This endowment not only celebrates the legacy she created at Austin Peay, but also provides future generations of Kappa Rho members with opportunities to continue that legacy through scholarship and service.”
