APSU to host Domino's Run for Govs 5K, Valerie Hunter-Kelly Run/Walk for the Govs 1K on Oct. 10

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — The 2026 Domino's Run for Govs 5K and Valerie Hunter-Kelly Run/Walk For the Govs 1K kicks off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Pace Alumni Center on Emerald Hill, with day-of registration opening at 7 a.m.
"The Domino's Run for Govs 5K and Valerie Hunter-Kelly Run/Walk For the Govs 1K bring together our entire community— APSU students, alumni, families, and neighbors—for a day that celebrates wellness while directly funding scholarships," said Kris Phillips, APSU's vice president for Alumni, Engagement and Philanthropy. "When local business leaders step up to support events like this, they're investing in the future of Clarksville through the success of our students. We're proud of how this event continues to grow and make a real difference."

A Race for Everyone: The event welcomes runners of all abilities—from competitive 5K racers chasing cash prizes to families walking the 1K together. The celebration brings together all members of the APSU community to raise money for scholarships and honor the memory of Valerie Hunter-Kelly. The certified course showcases the Emerald Hill on campus, and whether participants join in person or run virtually, they are part of a tradition that directly benefits Austin Peay students.
What Participants Get: Every registered participant receives an exclusive race packet featuring the official 2026 event T-shirt, finisher medal, and sponsor goodies. Registration directly supports APSU Foundation scholarships, and participants choose which scholarship fund receives their contribution during registration.
Race Options: Participants can compete in-person on the certified USA Track & Field 3.1-mile course at Emerald Hill, or run virtually on their preferred route from now to Oct. 10, 2026. Cash prizes are available for the top three male and female finishers in the in-person race.
