CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University alumnus Michael Wright and Quality Manufacturing Systems, Inc. (QMSI) recently funded an endowed scholarship through the APSU Foundation to benefit Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) students.
The endowment will be known as the Michael Wright/QMSI Endowed Scholarship. Money from the endowment will be designated for incoming freshmen. The scholarship will promote academic excellence through its selection criteria. In accordance with University policy, the CSIT scholarship committee will select scholarship recipients from a competitive group of applicants.
“Mr. Michael Wright embodies the very ideals that Austin Peay hopes to instill in its students: dedication and a love for learning,” Dr. Leong Lee, CSIT department chair, said. “His success in life is an amazing example of the great things that every Governor can accomplish with an Austin Peay education and the right attitude. We are grateful for the chance that Mr. Wright is going to give to other young undergraduate students to forge their own path in life.”
Wright graduated from Austin Peay in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He also earned his master’s degree in computer science at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. He is the co-founder and vice president of QMSI. Located in La Vergne, Tennessee, QMSI is a real-time software development company that provides software and engineering services for automated systems, largely specializing in automated mail service pharmacies. With the support of his organization, Wright intends to honor his alma mater by investing in future generations of Austin Peay students.
“I will always be appreciative of the gift of education that Austin Peay gave me,” Wright said. “It gave me opportunities to succeed both in life and in my career beyond my wildest dreams. My hope is that this endowment gift provides the same opportunities for recipients to reach for and achieve their dreams.”
