Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation awards over $100K to support APSU health initiatives

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation (CMCCHF) has awarded $106,481 in grant funding to the Austin Peay State University Foundation to support three critical health programs serving the university and surrounding community.
The grants, supporting projects running through February 2027, will fund:

APSU Sexual Assault Prevention Program – Supporting comprehensive prevention efforts including peer advocate training, campus climate research, awareness campaigns, and sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) certification programs.

APSU Student Nurse for a Day and Nurse Intensives Camps – Funding community healthcare simulation programs that introduce middle and high school students to nursing careers through hands-on experiences in APSU's state-of-the-art facilities.

Health Literacy in Rural Childhood Education – Supporting APSU School of Nursing initiatives to improve health literacy among children in rural communities throughout northern Middle Tennessee.
"These grants reflect our commitment to improving health at every stage—from prevention and education to increasing the number of healthcare providers," said Rosalind Kurita, executive director of the CMCCHF. "Austin Peay continues to be a partner in advancing our mission. Whether it's creating safer campuses, inspiring the next generation of nurses, or bringing health education to rural children, these programs will improve the well-being of our communities."
Since 2009, CMCCHF has awarded more than $27 million in grants to nonprofit organizations working to improve health for the residents of Clarksville, Montgomery County, Robertson, Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, and Stewart counties, and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The foundation's mission is to promote the general health of residents through charitable, scientific, and educational initiatives.
