APSU names Henson as new director of health and counseling services

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University has named Dr. Crystal Henson as the next director of the APSU Health and Counseling Services. She will begin her new role at Austin Peay on Sept. 1.

Henson received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from APSU in 2001. She went on to earn her master’s degree and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Western Kentucky University.

Henson brings with her extensive experience in providing testing services and counseling within a college campus environment. She has provided direct services and supervised individuals in outpatient, inpatient and crisis settings, and she has significant experience with training and presenting to large groups regarding crisis de-escalation, trauma, first-episode psychosis, professional self-care and evidence-based practices.

Henson has more than 12 years of experience providing both clinical and administrative supervision, including serving as faculty for an APA-accredited internship program.

APSU saxophone ensemble selected to perform at national conference

The Department of Music has announced that the APSU saxophone ensemble was accepted to perform at this year's North American Saxophone Alliance conference, which will be held at The Ohio State University from March 12-15.

APSU International Student Organization alumni establish Dr. Samuel Jator Computer Science and Quantitative Methods Endowment

To qualify for this renewable scholarship, students must be enrolled full-time in the computer science or quantitative methods graduate programs and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Priority will be given to international students, and the funds can also be used to provide graduate assistant stipends if no qualified recipients are available.

APSU Middle College students earn national recognition for literary scholarship

Natalee (Rae) Daniels and Jessica Sun of Middle College at Austin Peay State University were recently selected from among students nationwide to present their literary research at the Sigma Tau Delta International English Convention, to be held from March 29 to April 1 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
