APSU's Commitment to Hiring Veterans
Our service members from various armed forces often choose to retire or relocate to Clarksville, Tennessee, due to the community's many advantages and military-friendly atmosphere. Approximately 40% of soldiers who exit service from our local army base, Fort Campbell, decide to stay in the area for the next chapter of their lives.
Austin Peay State University is proud to be a supporter and employer of our veterans. We have developed the following resources to help veterans gain employment at Austin Peay and to demonstrate the value of hiring veterans to other employers.
Military Pay Grade to Degree & Position Equivalency
Many positions at Austin Peay State University require a college degree from an accredited institution. However, we believe that a comparable level of expertise can be achieved during a person’s service in the armed forces.
Therefore, most university staff positions that require a degree are open to veteran applicants with equivalent military pay grades, provided they have served in a similar capacity with reasonably similar duties. Use our guide to understand how your military pay grade meets degree requirements and how it translates to civilian management roles.
