Family Involvement

Parent participation and communication is invited, encouraged, and appreciated!  It is vital to our success in helping children grow, develop and learn that we strive to join together in a partnership with parents and families in the care and education of their children.

Parent Engagement

Meetings are held twice a semester for the Parent Advisory Board.  The board helps plan and facilitate improvements to the campus and overall program.  Parents can become a member of the center advisory board by signing up in the Volunteer Survey found in the back of the Family Package.

Meetings are offered to parents three times a year in which the child’s development and progress is discussed in detail. The CLC uses the Creative Curriculum Developmental Continuum Assessment for children 36 months to 5 years old.  Developmental screenings are a part of “best practices” because it provides specific information on each child’s development.  They also allow teachers to identify possible areas of developmental concerns so together we can make informed decisions about early intervention for the child. Teachers and parents will use this time to discuss the assessment and develop an effective strategy for further growth and nurturing. Parents will also have the opportunity to attend a group parent meeting scheduled annually.  Parents may request meetings with teachers or administration at any time with questions or concerns regarding their child.

Throughout the year the APSU Little Govs Child Learning Center provides opportunities for families to attend educational classes related to early childhood. Free childcare is always provided.

We love and encourage parental involvement at Little Govs Child Learning Center! Your input will only better our center and help us to provide a more well-rounded educational experience for your children.  Please let us know if you have any unique skills or talents that you would like to share with us.
