Dr. Kenney earned his undergraduate degree in philosophy from Northwestern University (Illinois). He later earned master's degrees in classical Greek from Bryn Mawr College (Pennsylvania) and in Latin American studies from Tulane University (Louisiana). He completed his Ph.D., also from Tulane University, in political science. He joined the faculty of Austin Peay in August 2001. In addition to serving as the director of PELP, he is a professor in APSU's Department of Political Science.
Dr. Kenney's teaching and research interests are wide ranging, though they focus primarily on developing countries. Each spring, he leads a group of Austin Peay students to Trinidad & Tobago where they complete a service-learning project with Habitat for Humanity.
