Tuition & Fees

The ESL Institute at Austin Peay State University is pleased to offer our program at very competitive costs. If you compare to other regional programs, you will find that we offer an excellent value for your education dollars.
The following information is current for the 2010-2011 academic year only. All fees are shown in U.S. dollars and are subject to change. Fees are reviewed and set by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) each year. Please refer to the current APSU Undergraduate Bulletin for additional details.

F-1 Full-Time Academic Students

 

Required Fees

  
Registration and Maintenance Fees (per 15-week semester)$2,990Total is for a full-time course load of 19 or more unit hours. $200 is due in advance from first-time students.

Returnable Deposits

Health Services Deposit$75.00Health services deposit is paid only if the full-time F-1 student elects to pay the PSF (see below).
The unused portion of the deposit is refunded when the student completes the ESL program.

Express Mail Fee$65.00The costs to express mail the I-20 document are not covered by the ESL Institute. A fee of $65 (which is subject to change) is charged at registration to cover these costs. If the actual charges for a particular student are found to be higher than $65, the student will be expected to pay the additional cost.

Non F-1 Students

 
Registration Fee for all Courses $160 per unit hourFor example, a course which is 3 unit hours is $480 per 15-week semester.
Concepts & Practices classes$75.00The Concepts & Practices classes are optional for non F-1 students.

Refund Policy

 

Full-time F-1 students applying to the ESL Institute must submit with their application:

Non-refundable application fee$40.00 
Advance Tuition Fee$200.00 

 

If the student is not accepted, the $200 advance tuition payment will be refunded in full. However, if the student is accepted and then formally cancels in writing within sixty (60) days prior to the start date of the term, $100 of the advance tuition payment will be refunded to the student.

In addition, any costs to express mail the I-20 will be charged to the student and reduce the amount of the refund.

If the student is accepted and fails to arrive and register for classes, the $200 advance tuition payment will not be refunded.

No refunds will be made for any reasons for withdrawals or cancellations on or after the first day of classes.

Non F-1 students will be refunded in the event a course is canceled by the ESL Institute. Other requests for a refund of course fees may be made by phone, fax, mail or in person. Request for refunds of course fees received one week (five working days) or more before the start date of the class will receive a full refund. No refunds of fees or transfer of fees will be made for the any reason once a class has started.

Non F-1 students who request refunds prior to the start of the class but less than five working days prior to the the start date will have the option of transferring to another class. Escrowed funds will be held for no more than one year and may be applied to the fees for any other course offered by the ESL Institute. Funds that are unused in one year will be forfeited.
