LDSP 4518 – Vital Topics in Leadership

The first course in the series focuses on training and selection of potential Peer Leaders. This course is only offered in the spring semester to train and select for the following fall.

Course Purpose

The course is a special topics course in the Department of Leadership and Organizational Administration and is a collaboration with Student Success. This course is designed as training and development for students who intend to serve as a Peer Leader for the APSU 1000 or PASS 0900 program the following Fall semester. At the completion of the course students could be selected to serve as a Peer Leader. All students will be encouraged to seek a leadership minor. The successful completion of this course does not guarantee a position. (1 Credit Course).

Peer Leader Meetings

Returning Peer Leaders and students in LDSP 4518, who are still interested in becoming a peer leader for the following fall, are required to attend the Peer Leader Meeting on study day. This meeting explains the summer logistics for the final selection and matching processes. In addition to the course, all selected Peer Leaders must complete summer online trainings and attend the Fall Peer Leader and Instructor Development session prior to the fall semester.

LDSP 4519 – Vital Topics in Leadership

The second in the course series provides a practicum experience for the selected peer leaders.  Each student in this course will be concurrently supporting either an APSU 1000 or PASS 0900 course.  Students will create goals and reflect on how the goals are being accomplished throughout their Peer Leader experience. This course requires successful completion of LDSP 4518

Course Purpose
Prerequisite: LDSP 4518
The course is a special topics course in the Department of Leadership and Organizational Administration which is offered in collaboration with Student Success. This course is designed as a practical experience for students who serve as a peer leader for the APSU 1000 or PASS 0900 program in Fall. All students will be encouraged to seek a leadership minor. (1 Credit Course).

LDSP 4520 – Vital Topics in Leadership

The last in the course series is for peer leaders interested in returning the following fall. This course is only offered in the Spring and requires successful completion of LDSP 4519. Students explore ways to take their peer leadership experience to the next level by creating a leadership project focused on team leadership and using it beyond the classroom.

Course Purpose
Prerequisite: LDSP 4519
The course is a special topics course in the Department of Leadership and Organizational Administration which is offered in collaboration with Student Success. This course is a practical application of the leadership skills learned in LDSP 4518 and LDSP 4519. All students are encouraged to seek a leadership minor. (1 Credit Course).
