Yanaraliz Barnes, Center Coordinator

Yanaraliz Barnes is the Coordinator of the Latino Community Resource Center at Austin Peay State University.  In her role, the Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the programs, events, and services provided by the center for the campus and community as well as to educate and motivate all students to be aware and appreciative of the Hispanic culture.  Yanaraliz Barnes graduated from Saint Leo University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management.  Through her involvement during her undergraduate career and the mentorship she received, Yanaraliz developed a passion for student affairs.  As a result, Yanaraliz obtained a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Florida International University.  Yanaraliz's interests include spending time with her family, playing with her two dogs, and traveling. 

Miguel Ruiz 

Dr. Ruiz-Avilés, Cultural Director

Dr. Ruiz-Avilés is the Cultural Director at Austin Peay State University.  As the Cultural Director, he serves as the Chair of the Latino Community Resource Center's Advisory Committee and oversees the Spanish tutoring program.  Dr. Ruiz-Avilés is also a Professor of Hispanic Literature, History, and Language at the University.  He holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also serves as the Coordinator of the Study Abroad Program in Spain. His interests include Hispanic literature, cinema, and travel.
