We're here to help you transform to a GOV
Welcome to APSU! We're so excited you have decided to be a GOV. We know that it can be a transition transferring to a new institution. That is why Austin Peay has a center dedicated to helping transfer students through the TRANSFERmation process. Below you will find some opportunities created for transfer students!
Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are specialized living environments that connect students’ inside- and outside-the-classroom experiences. Each LLC is unique, but all are centered on a distinctive theme or academic interest area. Students who choose to live in a LLC have a direct connection to their classroom experience, access to intentional events and programs, and dedicated staff members who work to make the community a success. LLCs are an ideal way to make friends with peers who have similar interests or circumstances. Research shows that students who participate in a LLC have higher academic success rates, higher college graduation rates, higher levels of satisfaction with their college experience, and an easier time connecting with their peers. There is no cost to join the transfer living learning community.
Members of TRANSFERmation: Transfer LLC have the following benefits: you will come to Austin Peay knowing that you have a group of individuals that are all new to campus and eager to become involved; guaranteed on- and off-campus events to help you transition to both APSU and Clarksville; and, designated staff members to help in your transition process. For more information about the LLC please visit this website or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Each fall the ANTS Center hosts a trip only for transfer students. Newly transferred (Spring/Summer/Fall of that year) students are eligible to attend a unique trip aimed at helping students connect
with other student, staff, and resources on campus.
AP on the AT allows a group of transfer students to spend several days exploring the Appalachian Trail near the Nantahala Outdoor Center. This hike is a moderate-ability level and will end with a peak experience selected by participants; for example, white-water rafting, ropes course, climbing, etc. For more information and to sign up for the trip, visit the university's official extended orientation page at this page.

Tau Sigma is an academic honor society designed specifically to "recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students." Transfer students who have completed one year worth of college credit and obtain a semester GPA of a 3.5 or above their first semester at APSU will be invited to join. Members receive a graduation cord. This is an active student organization on campus that hosts service projects, social events, and attend an annual leadership conference.
