2016-17 Student Affairs Annual Review
We are pleased to share an overview of the work of the Division of Student Affairs during the past year. The departments in our Division have strived COLLABORATIVELY to support and ENHANCE the educational experience and personal DEVELOPMENT of our students. This review spotlights several successful INITIATIVES and ACCOMPLISHMENTS such as the grand opening of the Counseling Center and Boyd Health Services in the new Ard Building. This provides a truly collaborative and integrated approach to student WELLNESS.
We are becoming more intentional in seeking PARTNERSHIPS with sponsors and raising funds to supplement existing budgets. This assists students by adding to scholarships, expanding program offerings, and providing more travel and training EXPERIENCES. Services provided by our various student centers such as textbook loans, language tutoring or access to computers and other technology supports academic coursework. Participation in alternative break trips, fraternities and sororities, or intramural sports builds RELATIONSHIPS with other students and provides LEADERSHIP development opportunities. Students employed on campus in such areas as Housing, University Recreation or Student Publications often develop transferable SKILLS and work experience that provides an advantage during the post-graduation job search.
These are just a few examples of our focus on student ENGAGEMENT and SUCCESS. The leadership displayed by our staff and our division-wide commitment to TRANSFORMING the lives of our students is highlighted in the sections that follow.
