Deferment Options

A short term deferment and forbearance can be granted to assist you through periods of temporary economic difficulty. The Perkins Loan office determines eligibility. All requests should be presented in writing by submitting the appropriate form. • Economic Hardship – based on monthly gross income
• Unemployment – working less than full-time status but seeking full-time job
• In-School – enrolled in school at least half-time status
• Forbearance – other hardships
