As of this morning, Austin Peay currently has 18 positive COVID-19 cases, with 89 students and employees in quarantine on and off campus. You can find this information on our APSU Covid-19 Self-Reporting Dashboard, which is updated daily. As I said yesterday during my social media town hall, we’ve already had several people roll off that COVID-19 positive list because they have recovered, and as a campus community, we are doing a good job at keeping our numbers low. I appreciate everyone’s hard work in following our guidelines to keep Austin Peay safe and the semester moving forward, both online and on campus. There was a little activity last weekend with an unsanctioned, off-campus party, and we’re taking steps right now to try and prevent any lasting impacts from that gathering.

After these long months of isolation and distancing, it’s tempting to meet with friends and family in larger groups, but we need everyone to remain vigilant as we move through these next few months. This weekend is a holiday weekend, so the temptation to ignore our guidelines may be stronger than in previous days. Please be responsible and refrain from gathering in large numbers. We are still in a pandemic, and what you do this weekend could have major repercussions on our community’s health and the remainder of the semester.

During yesterday’s town hall, I also mentioned I would start hosting “Pop-Ins with the Prez,” which will be done through Zoom. During these “pop-ins,” faculty, staff and students will be able to share any of their thoughts or concerns with me. You can sign up for a 15-minute slot at this link. I plan to have these meetings every three weeks, and I will send the sign-up link through the President’s Corner email.

If you missed yesterday's town hall session, you can watch it below.

Again, thank you for your hard work and vigilance these last few weeks, and I wish everyone a safe, happy and socially distanced holiday weekend.
