Pianist to perform

Jan Gottlieb Jiracek will perform in the final concert of the Community Concert Artist Series at 8 p.m., Sunday, April 22 in the music/mass communication building.
Tickets not sold to season subscription holders and students will be sold an hour and a half before the show for $15 adults, $7 students. All seats are reserved.
Born in Hanover, Germany, Jiracek began piano lessons at age 6. He received a scholarship at age 16 from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, and studied with Hans Leygraf. He completed studies with Leygraf at the Hochschule der Kunste in Berlin. Jiracek won the Steinway Competition in Hamburg, Germany at age 10 and since then as won several other European piano competitions.
His first great success in the United States was at the Van Cliburn Competition in June 1997. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and around the United States.
