Hoppe announces across-the-board salary increases

The Tennessee Board of Regents approved the proposed salary increases for Austin Peay during its Dec. 7 meeting. According to President Sherry Hoppe, who announced the decision in a university-wide e-mail, the increases will be retroactive to the beginning of the academic year for faculty and retroactive to July 1 for staff. Individuals employed as of August 15 are eligible for the following increases: Earnings under $25,000 - 2.5 percent, Earnings of $25,000 to 49,999 - 2.2 percent, and Earnings of $50,000 and over: 2.0 percent.

Those individuals with equity gaps identified through the Mercer Plan will receive 10.83 percent of the original equity gap (which is 17.8 percent of the remaining gap).

"Although our salaries are still inadequate, the above increases will move us in the right direction," Dr. Hoppe said in the e-mail. "Salary increases will continue to be one of our highest priorities in the future."

The retroactive pay increases will be in employees' December payroll check. "Enjoy this long-overdue compensation increase!" Hoppe said.
