Faculty Dialing for Dollars--and Students
September 18, 2000
Austin Peay faculty members may not see themselves as telephone solicitors. But Interim Director for Alumni and Annual Giving Sheila Boone believes that when it comes to raising funds for scholarships, nobody does it better.
"Faculty have a personal connection with alumni," she says. "And it's impressive to alums when faculty members care enough about students to pitch in and help get funds for scholarships."
There's still another reason for faculty to make those calls. "It's enjoyable," Boone says. "They can catch up on what's happening with the alum and tell them what's happening at Austin Peay and in their program. It's like homecoming."
All phone calls are made in the evening between 6 and 9, and the phonathon will continue through October 5. Call Sheila Boone at 7979 to schedule a date to participate.
