Archwood and Morgan Center debut to TBR
January 14, 2002
The Hoppes moved into Archwood in December-literally hours before the arrival of the Tennessee Board of Regents, their spouses and other representatives.
Despite unpacked boxes behind closed doors, Hoppe invited the Regents and their entourage, as well as community sponsors, to enjoy the first reception held in Archwood since its revival as the official President's Home.
Through determination and near-around-the-clock-work by physical plant staff, TBR members and guests enjoyed the primary dinner in the beautiful ballroom of the new University Center. Jane Chitwood, secretary for the Center for Extended and Distance Education, was in charge of decorating the room. Her creativity and collaboration with Emeritus Art Professor Olen Bryant brought rave reviews.
After the quarterly TBR meeting concluded, the architect and builder took repossession the facility until all interior work is completed. When students return from spring break in March, their UC will be open and operational.
