Paula Bressman, harp

Paula Bressman is principal harpist of the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra and Acting Principal harpist of the Orchestra Kentucky Bowling Green for their 2011-2012 season. An active performer, Paula also regularly appears as second harpist or substitute harpist with various orchestras including the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Nashville Symphony Orchesta. As a session musician, Paula has performed on various recordings, including Jim Brickman's Romanza (2011). She was a finalist in Miami's New World Symphony for the 2011-2012 season. 

A passionate music educator, Paula is currently an adjunct faculty member at Austin Peay State University and Belmont University. She also teaches kindergarten through sixth grade general music at Franklin Classical School and maintains a private harp studio.

Paula began harp lessons at age 6 with Cynthia Wyatt, and continued studies with Licia Jaskunas, principal harpist of the Nashville Symphony. She received her Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music under the tutelage of Marian Shaffer. She returned to Nashville after completing her Master of Music in Harp Performance, studying with Gillian Benet Sella at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. She studied at Aspen Music Festival and School with Nancy Allen and at Sewanee Summer Music Festival with Marian Shaffer, and has also participated in master classes with Susann McDonald, and Nancy Allen.
