June 5-10, 2021
The 2021 Cumberland Clarinet Academy will be held on-line via Zoom.

Academy Events will Include:

  • Private Lessons
  • Masterclasses
  • Presentations
  • Faculty Performances
  • Student Performances

 

10:00-12:00 – Presentations & Private Lessons
12:00-1:30 – Group Lunch and Q&A session with faculty and guest artists
2:00-3:30 – Presentations & Private Lessons
4:00-6:00 – Masterclass
 
Step 1: Fill out the Clarinet Academy Application Form and submit the $25 application fee
 
Step 2: Email a link to a recording of 2 contrasting pieces (Recordings can be links to recordings shared via google, dropbox, youtube, soundcloud, etc.), your professional resume, and a photo of your government issued ID to: cumberlandclarinetacademy@apsu.edu
 
You will be notified by email when your complete application is received. 
 
Notification of acceptance will be given by email once the academy faculty have reviewed your recordings.
 
Registration Deadlines:
Final application deadline is May 10, 2021. 
You will be notified of your acceptance by May 12, 2021.
Enrollment will be limited so you’re encouraged to apply early. 
 
Once you’ve been accepted, you will be provided with instructions via email on how to complete your payment. All tuition, housing, and meal fees must be paid in full by May 17, 2021.
Tuition fees are non-refundable.
Participants: $649 / APSU Student & Returning Participants: $500 / Observers: $150
All participants in the Academy will have one private lesson with each faculty member, at least one performance in a masterclass, and access to all events, all group warm-up classes, attend faculty recitals, perform in student recitals, and participate in all events. Observers will be welcome to attend all group events but will not receive lessons or perform in masterclasses.

Boris Allakhverdyan was appointed Principal Clarinet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2016. He previously served as Principal Clarinet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Associate Principal Clarinet of the Kansas City Symphony.

Spencer Prewitt
Spencer Prewitt | Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Austin Peay State University
As an orchestral musician, Prewitt has performed with the symphonies Nashville, Detroit, Toledo, Fort Wayne, Ann Arbor, Flint, Lansing, and the Gateway Chamber Orchestra. Prewitt also performed for six seasons with the Ohio Light Opera Orchestra and recorded 11 CDs with the company. Additionally, Dr. Prewitt is also an active studio musician in Nashville and can be heard on the soundtracks for movies such as My Little Pony and the video game scores for Destiny 2, Minecraft, Call of Duty, and World of Warcraft.

Amy Zoloto
Amy Zoloto Bass clarinetist for the New York Philharmonic
Bass clarinetist Amy Zoloto joined the New York Philharmonic in June 2016. Previously, she was the bass clarinet / utility clarinet of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (2014–16), played as a substitute with the New York Philharmonic (2009–14), and was a member of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
