Medication management services are offered by board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner faculty in the School of Nursing.
At this time medication management services are available only by referral from a counselor, therapist, or primary care provider. Please ask your therapist or primary care provider to contact us if you feel you would benefit from medication management for your mental health needs.
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners
Leslie Binford, DNP, RN, PMHNP-BC, PMH-C (right)
Leslie Binford is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Leslie has been practicing as a nurse practitioner since December of 2012, entering the nurse practitioner role with five years of experience as a Bachelor’s prepared registered nurse. Previous experience includes work with individuals with severe and persistent mental health needs, addiction, women’s mental health, perinatal and postpartum mental health, and trauma. Leslie received a BSN from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2008 and an MSN, with a focus in psychiatric mental health, from Vanderbilt University in 2012. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Belmont University in May of 2020, with a research focus in perinatal mental health. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Austin Peay State University.
Kristen Hershey, PhD, RN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, CNE (left)
Kristen Hershey is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Kristen has been a nurse for over 22 years with experience in pediatrics, emergency nursing, and community health. Kristen was initially educated and licensed as a nurse in North Carolina and has practiced in Tennessee since 2006. She received a MSN from Tennessee State University in 2010, a PhD from East Tennessee State University in 2017, and a post-graduate certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2021. She is a Professor of Nursing at Austin Peay State University, where she has taught for the last 12 years. Kristen is a military spouse and mom and is passionate about assisting our military-affiliated community.
The clinic is a grant funded project supported by the Clarksville Montgomery County Community Health Foundation.
