What is the QEP?

The Quality Enhancement Plan is a requirement of Austin Peay State University's accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). As defined by SACSCOC, the Quality Enhancement Plan engages "the wider academic community" and is "based upon a comprehensive and thorough analysis of the effectiveness of the learning environment for supporting undergraduate student learning and accomplishing the mission of the institution." A QEP Think Tank comprised of individuals from all across campus worked during the Fall 2012 semester to identify relevant topics that address key student learning issues at APSU. After much review and analysis, the QEP Think Tank decided that the best focus for the APSU QEP would be high-impact practices that enhance student success and apply learning in real-world settings. With a clear topic in mind, QEP Writing Teams began to meet in the Spring 2013 semester to write the Quality Enhancement Plan in preparation for the Spring, 2014 SACSCOC On-Site Reaffirmation Committee visit.

The proposed APSU QEP was accepted by the on-site review team, but additional information regarding assessment procedures was requested and subsequently submitted and approved. Both documents can be viewed in full by clicking on the following links:

APSU QEP Part III Feedback and Response

A QEP Review Task Force was charged with examining the QEP: E^3 Initiative during the Spring of 2016 and presented several recommendations to the Vice Presidents. In addition to the recommendations presented, the Vice Presidents engaged in a collaborative examination and discussion which resulted in the comprehensive list of APSU QEP revisions that are now approved. The revisions can be found detailed in the report below.

Quality Enhancement Plan Revisions

Beginning in the fall of 2016, the QEP was rebranded as Keys to the World and shifted focus to two high-impact areas: service-learning and study abroad.

Service-learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.

Students obtain college credits and practical learning experience while taking courses in another country.
