Dr. Winters earned his B.A. in Greek with Honors at the University of Arizona, and
his M.A. and Ph.D. at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Oh. He spent two years
living in Greece where he studied archeology and history at The American School of Classical Studies at Athens Dr. Winters has been teaching Greek, Latin, ancient civilization, and archeology
for about thirty years. He has been the recipient of the Society for Classical Studies
National College Teacher of the Year Award, the Classical Assn of the Middle West
and South College Teacher of the Year Award, the Socrates Award for Excellence in
Undergraduate Teaching at APSU, and the Distinguished Professor Award also at APSU.
His research interests are in Greek epigraphy, Greek pedagogy, and Greek archeology.
Dr. Winters joined the faculty of Austin Peay in 1997.
Ms. Delaney Atkins is the Administrative Assistant for the Honors Program and President's
Emerging Leaders Program. She graduated from Austin Peay State University with her
Masters of Arts in English in 2020 and with her Bachelors of Science in English with
a minor in Professional Writing in 2018. She is also an instructor for Honors and
has interests in poetry, Victorian and Romantic literature, and music.
