History at APSU
The Department of History and Philosophy offers a variety choices for students interested in history.
The Department of History and Philosophy requires 33 hours for the completion of a degree in history. These include:
- the World History (HIST 1210/1220) sequence (6 hours)
- the US History (HIST 2010/2020) sequence (6 hours)
(note, Tennessee History (HIST 2030) may be substituted for 3 hours) - the methods course (HIST 2999)
- two upper division courses (3000s or 4000s) in US History (6 hours)
- two upper division courses (3000s or 4000s) in non-US History (6 hours)
- two upper division courses (3000s or 4000s) as electives in any field (6 hours)
- Capstone (HIST 4999) (3 hours)
