Health Services Staff

Jeffrey Rutter, PsyD

Dr. Rutter is Director of Boyd Student Health Services.  A Tennessee native, his career has spanned two continents and a variety of academic and clinical settings, including three colleges and three military installations.  Dr. Rutter received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Wright State University.  His interests include lifelong learning, motorcycling, spending time with his wife and two teenage sons, and keeping up with his oldest daughter who attends college in Australia.

Lance Sherley, DO

Dr. Sherley is our sponsoring physician. He is Board Certified in Family Practice. Dr. Sherley attended the University of Memphis (undergraduate), University of North Texas Science Center in Ft. Worth, TX (medical school) and did his residency in Dallas, TX. He came to APSU in Fall of 2000. He is married and has three children.

Dan Miller, MD, FAAFP

Dan Miller, MD, FAAFP 

Dr. Miller is Board Certified in Family Practice and is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Miller attended the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine.  He did his residency at Dewitt Army Community Hospital. Dr. Miller's interests include reading, biking, running and stained glass.

Jill deGraauw, FNP

Jill received her Bachelor of Nursing from Austin Peay and her Masters of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University.  Her clinical interests include minor procedures and mental health issues.  Jill is married and is the mother of two children. She enjoys camping, wildlife watching and is very active with her church and their youth group.  Jill recently returned from a mission trip to Guatemala, where she helped paint a school and install water filters in twenty homes.

Kristy Reed, DNP, APN, FNP-C, CNM, WHNP

Kristy serves as Assistant Director/Family Nurse Practitioner at APSU Boyd Health Services.  She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and also maintains certification as a Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Kristy completed her BSN at Austin Peay State University and MSN at Frontier Nursing University.  She completed a Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Frontier Nursing University. Her clinical interests include depression, reproductive health, and health promotion.  She is a military spouse and mother of 3 children.  She enjoys trout fishing, riding horses, reading, and exercise.


Tiffany Basham, FNP-BC

Tiffany is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing at Maryville University, and is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner.  Tiffany will begin the Doctorate of Nursing Practice program at Frontier Nursing University this summer.  Her clinical interests are mental health, women's health, dermatology, and health promotion.  Tiffany is married and the mother of two children.  She enjoys baseball, outdoor activities, and is very active with her church.

Annette Marks, DPh

Annette graduated from the University of Tennessee, College of Pharmacy. She has also worked with Warren's Apothecary for 44 years and is now working at Town and Country Pharmacy. She has been married for 44 years.

Donna Lucas, Technical Clerk

Donna started at APSU as a student in 1996. She became our Technical Clerk in Fall of 2000. She is originally from Trinidad, West Indies. She obtained her degree in Health Care Management in the Spring of 2002. She has two children.

Leslie Nelson, Medical Program Facilitator

Leslie has been at APSU since 1986. She has a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Florida.  She has been married for 28 years and has two children.  Her interests include fishing and gardening.

Tracey Ross,  Certified Medical Assistant

Tracey received her certification as a medical assistant from Fortis College in Montgomery, Alabama.  She has been married for 20 years and has two children.  Tracey is originally from Dover, Tennessee, and after being away for many years as a military spouse, is happy to be back living in the area and working at APSU Health Services.  Her interest include traveling, reading, and dancing. 

Chris Cleaver, CMA

Chris Cleaver was raised in an Air Force family assigned to the Great Lakes region, and graduated from Central Michigan University in 1996 with a degree in Biology. He served 9 years in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman and as a Respiratory Therapist. Using the GI Bill to go to Miller-Motte Technical College in Clarksville, he got a degree in Massage Therapy, and an Associate's degree in Medical Assisting in 2012 and 2014, respectively.  After passing the CMA exam in 2014, he joined our team in May of 2015.  In his spare time, Chris likes to ride a mountain bike with his dog running beside him, and he is mildly obsessed with playing and training for Ultimate Frisbee.
