Diversity Fellowship Grant
The College of Graduate Studies offers one-year non-renewable Diversity Graduate Fellowships to qualified Tennessee residents. General Eligibility Requirements
An applicant must be fully admitted to the College of Graduate Studies and a member of one or more of the underrepresented groups defined in APSU’s definition of diversity. The applicant must also be in good academic standing, with a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.25 or higher. Recipients are encouraged to apply for graduate assistantships for subsequent years. A recipient must be fully admitted to a graduate program and registered as a full-time student in order to begin and retain the award. Full admission requirements vary by program and can be found on the appropriate Program Requirements sheet found on the Graduate Programs page.
To apply for a Diversity Fellowship Grant, please submit the following:
- Diversity Fellowship Application
- A 500-700 word essay that includes your professional goals and interests as they relate to achieving a graduate degree. You should also describe the keys to your success in pursuing higher education as a member of an underrepresented group.
- One letter of recommendation completed by academic advisor or other appropriate person who has adequate knowledge of your academic potential. Recommendation letters from family members or relatives will not be accepted.
What are the financial benefits?
Each recipient will receive a scholarship award of up to $6,000 for the fall and spring semesters from which tuition and fees are paid by the recipient. The award is considered for renewal after the first semester, provided the student maintains full-time status, achieves a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25, and funds are available. It is imperative to check with Student Financial Aid regarding how the award may affect your financial aid package.
Application Deadline
Applications must be submitted to the College of Graduate Studies by May 1 for the fall semester. Fall award notifications will be made by mid-July. Applications for spring semester awards are due by November 1. Spring notifications will be made by mid-December and are subject to funding availability..
