Geography Awards

Each year the Geosciences program gives three awards to geography students that recognize academic excellence. The awards are:

Jim McCluskey Outstanding Geography Senior

Jim McCluskey (Ph.D., Rutgers University) taught at APSU from 1989 to 1999. He played an integral role in the establishment of both the Environmental Geography program and the GIS Center at APSU, of which he was the first Director. He was the recipient of APSU’s Richard Hawkins Award for Outstanding Research in 1996 and the Clarksville Mayor’s Certificate for Community Service in 1999. He now teaches at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County.

Harry Law Outstanding Geography Junior

Mr. Harry Law, M.S., founded the Department of Geography at APSU in 1935. He was the only instructor teaching geography until the early 1960’s. He published a book entitled “Tennessee Geography” in 1954.
