State health commissioner guest speaker at pinning ceremony

The Austin Peay State University School of Nursing will conduct a pinning ceremony for 80 students at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 3 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall.

The ceremony, open to the public, will feature guest speaker Virginia Trotter Betts, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Disabilities. A former president of the American Nurses Association, Betts is a nurse and attorney who has worked in Washington, D.C., under the Clinton administration.

In addition to the pinning, the program also will include several student award presentations.
