Schlader, Carmichael named Academic All-District

Senior guard Levi Carmichael and junior center Zac Schlader have been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team.

As first-team All-District IV selections, both Carmichael and Schlader are eligible for the 2004-05 Academic All-America team, which will be announced March 2.

Carmichael, a senior from Bloomfield, Ind., owns a 3.611 GPA in his history/teaching major. On the floor, he is averaging 3.7 points per game and 2.2 assists as a reserve guard for the Govs.

Carmichael, a senior from Bloomfield, Ind., owns a 3.611 GPA in his history/teaching major. On the floor, he is averaging 3.7 points per game and 2.2 assists as a reserve guard for the Govs.

Schlader, a junior from Columbia, Mo., owns a 3.605 GPA as a health and human performance major. On the court, he is third in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game, shooting a team-best 51 percent from the floor. He leads the Govs in rebounding at 6.5 per game. He also is second in the OVC in minutes played at 36.54 per contest.

To be eligible for Academic All-America, an athlete must be a sophomore with no less than a 3.2 GPA.

This is the fourth straight year APSU has had an Academic All-District selection. Rhet Wierzba earned such honors for three seasons.
