Richardson, Young named CoSIDA Academic All-District

A pair of APSU defensive ends have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

Jordan Richardson, who has a 3.72 grade-point average in biology, and Steven Young, who holds a 3.57 GPA in engineering technology, were selected first-team All-District IV. This is the second time Richardson, a junior, has been honored. He was a second-team All-District choice a year ago. This is the first time for Young, a sophomore.

District IV is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.

A Humboldt native, Richardson is a four-time member of the Dean's List and was a 2003 first-team Academic All-PFL choice while being a two-time member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll. In addition, he has been a four-time member of APSU's Athletic Director's Honor Roll. He also was selected to the Sixth Annual Division I-AA Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star Team last year.

Young, meanwhile, is a three-time member of the Dean's List and four-time member of Athletic Director's Honor Roll. In addition, the Clarksville native is a two-time member of Pioneer Football League's Academic Honor Roll and was a member of the PFL's All-Academic Team.

To be nominated for Academic All-America, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher. Selections are made by district members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The CoSIDA Academic All-District Team is part of the CoSIDA Academic All-America program. First-team selections will appear on the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Football team, to be released Dec. 1.
