This past summer, Phy-Olsen attended a National Endowment for the Humanities seminar in the Ghetto in Venice.

“This is the original ‘ghetto,' which later gave its name to all such ethnic enclosures throughout the world,” Phy-Olsen said. “We concentrated on the history of the Jews in Venice, since the Renaissance through the Holocaust, up to the present.”

Phy-Olsen said her presentation will focus on personalities associated with the Ghetto and center on Jews in Venetian history.

Sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs, the Faculty Research Forum provides an opportunity for faculty to share their research and creative works with their peers, students and members of the community. Free beverages will be provided.
