Plaudits

Dr. Phillip Kemmerly, professor in the School of Agriculture and Geosciences, is the principal author of a jointly authored paper published in November in Geograficky Casopis, the journal of the National Academy of Sciences of Slovakia.

The paper, titled Karst Modeling and Hazard Assessment on the Pennyroyal Plain and Western Highland Rim, is in English except for the papers abstract and conclusions, which are in Slovak. It is a solicited paper dealing with Kemmerlys work on karst in middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. Dr. Thomas O'Connor, associate professor of criminal justice/homeland security and director of IGSS, presented a November conference paper, titled "Terrorism as Global Insurgency," in St. Louis and had his article, "The Criminology of Terrorism: Theories and Models," published as a chapter in the recently released Jones and Bartlett book, “Terrorism in America.”

Amy Deaton, associate director of admissions,was elected president of the Tennessee Associate of Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Offiers (TACRAO) for the 2008-09 year.

Sally Allen, admissions manager, was elected secretary/treasurer at the same conference.

Melony Shemberger, communication specialist in Public Relations and Marketing, ran in a 10K race at the annual Nile-Buchanan YMCA Thanksgiving Day Run in Niles, Mich.
