Dr. Carmen Reagan, professor of marketing in the School of Business, will become chairm of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce, effective July 1.

Reagan served as chairman-elect during the 2005-06 chamber year. She succeeds Sammy Stuard of F&M Bank.

Also, APSU President Dr. Sherry Hoppe will chair the Industrial Development Board, an arm of the local Economic Development Council. She served as chair-elect this past year and succeeds James Thomas, a local businessman.

Hoppe serves as an ex-officio member on the chambers board of directors.

Dr. Leni Dyer, interim chair of communication and theatre, was selected to attend a leadership institute with the Association of Theatre in Higher Education.

Dyer will travel to Chicago in August to attend the institute for a week. Her selection was based on recommendations from college and university theatre chairs from across the country.

Dr. Nell Rayburn and Dr. David Cochener, professors of mathematics, gave a joint presentation, titled “Math 1010: A Freshman ‘Applications of Mathematics' Course,” April 21-22 at the Tennessee Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges Conference in Nashville.

Also at the conference Jackie Vogel, associate professor of mathematics, and Dr. Mary Lou Witherspoon, professor of mathematics, presented “Welcome to Planet Cartoon.”

At the same meeting, Vogel gave another presentation, titled “Pre-service Teachers' Misunderstanding of Division by Zero,” and was panel leader for “Roundtable Discussion: Mathematics for Elementary Education.”

In addition, Vogel presented her talk at the annual meeting of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics in St. Louis. Loretta Griffy, associate professor of mathematics, also attended this meeting.
