Dr. Ted Jones, professor of communication, was invited to make a professional presentation next month in Tarrytown, N.Y., at the international conference, “Performing the World 3: The Performance of Creativity and the Creativity of Performance,” sponsored by the New York-based East Side Institute for Group and Short-Term Psychotherapy. Jones and a colleague from Georgia College State University, Milledgeville, will present “Triangular Doorways,” a performance-art piece combining personal narrative, poetry, movement, harp music, meditation and ritual. In line with APSU's new vision, which focuses on preparing students for a global society, “Performing the World 3” recognizes and celebrates the growing global performance movement.
According to Leni Dyer, theatre coordinator, three APSU students were chosen by audition to attend a nine-hour master acting class in Nashville with NBC soap opera star, Matthew Ashford (Jack Devereaux in “Days of Our Lives”). The three were accompanied by Dyer.
