Plaudits

Dr. Steve Ryan, professor of English, will have an article, Ciceros Head in Melvilles ‘Bartleby the Scrivener, appearing in the December 2005 issue of English Language Notes. Thomson Gale Publications also is reissuing Ryans article, The Gothic Formula of ‘Bartleby, in Gothic Literature: A Gale Critical Companion. In addition, another article by Ryan, Evelyn Scotts Lost Echo, unanimously was rated first among submissions by the Tennessee Philological Association and will appear in the 2005 Bulletin of the Tennessee Philological Association.

Dr. Mary Lou Witherspoon, professor of mathematics, and Dr. Jackie Vogel, associate professor of mathematics, hosted a conference of mathematics educators from Tennessee and Kentucky colleges and community colleges July 22. The conference focused primarily on MATH 1410, MATH 1420 and related issues. Tentative plans are for the participants to meet annually to discuss issues in mathematics education.
