Austin Peay State University and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System are considering a partnership that would establish a middle college high school on the APSU campus.

The Nov. 24, 2006, edition of The Leaf-Chronicle reported the possible development. APSU President Sherry Hoppe said a group of administrators has not worked out all the details, according to the article.

The story noted a middle college high school for grades nine through 12 could open as soon as Fall 2007 or possibly Fall 2008.

Phil Wood, a 1972 Austin Peay alumnus and longtime baseball writer and columnist, wrote about former APSU baseball star Jamie Walker signing a three-year, $12 million deal with the Baltimore Orioles.
