In the opener, the game was scoreless until the third inning, when Jennifer Simpkins launched a triple deep into left center and came home when Amy Hale singled to right field. The Lady Govs would add two more runs in the fifth. Simpkins reached on a fielder's choice before Hale doubled her to third. Then Venable knocked both home with a triple to right center.

Those would be all the runs Longmire would need as she scattered seven hits while fanning three and walking only one.

In the nightcap, the Lady Govs wasted a five-hit pitching performance from freshman Ashley Porter. The game was scoreless until the sixth when Misty Adfield singled in Catriona Smith for the game's only run. APSU was unable to respond in the final inning.
