Lady Govs inaugurate new home field in 2005

"If you build it, they will come." At least that's what the APSU women's soccer team hopes as it enters its fourth season with new home digs. After three years, the Lady Govs will go from a five-mile trek to Heritage Park–former site of APSU home contests–to playing at newly constructed Lady Govs Soccer Park on the APSU campus.

Austin Peay will put its new home field through an early test when its hosts a four-team, two-day invitational at season's start. The Lady Govs Invitational will feature three teams that each reached the 10-win plateau last season: Southeast Missouri (11-6-2), IUPUI (10-7-0) and Gardner-Webb (10-8-2). Austin Peay will face IUPUI in a 7 p.m., Aug. 26.
