Just desserts

December 9, 2003

Move over, Dr. Seuss! Staffers across campus enjoyed an invitation in verse Monday, Dec. 8, written by Carlene Smith, data management coordinator for human resources. Smiths rhyming invitations have become as much of a tradition as the Staff Council Holiday Luncheon they announce.

Smith writes, Well provide turkey and dressing, potatoes, gravy and ham / Rolls, coffee and tea–Oh, how hungry I am! / The price of admission / Its such a small thing! / Just a dessert to share / we ask you to bring.

Move over, Dr. Seuss! Staffers across campus enjoyed an invitation in verse Monday, Dec. 8, written by Carlene Smith, data management coordinator for human resources. Smith's rhyming invitations have become as much of a tradition as the Staff Council Holiday Luncheon they announce.

Smith writes, “We'll provide turkey and dressing, potatoes, gravy and ham / Rolls, coffee and tea—Oh, how hungry I am! / The price of admission / It's such a small thing! / Just a dessert to share / we ask you to bring.”

Since so many people volunteered every year to bring desserts, they are the price of admission this year. So, whether you want to share your great-grandmother's famous 12-layer coconut cake, grab a bag of Oreos or get rid of a few extra goodies from around the house, here's your opportunity.

The luncheon will be held 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Dec. 16, in the UC Ballroom. It is open to all clerical, professional and administrative staff.
