After experiencing one of their worst days in recent years under Head Coach Mark Leroux, Austin Peay's men's golf team rebounded to finish in a sixth-place tie March 23 at the Amoco Ultimate-Young Oil Intercollegiate, hosted by Jacksonville State.

Entering the day in 12th place after shooting unseemly rounds of 320 and 315, the Govs fired a 291, the second-best round of any team during the two-day, 54-hole event. Senior Chris Harder, who moved into the lineup in place of the recently-dismissed Justin Metzger, led the Govs with a 231 total after a final-day 71. He tied for 21st place.

However, the Governors' best round came from sophomore Matt Dugger. His 69 Tuesday not only was the day's best round but the tournament's best round. Dugger finished at 234 (tie for 29th).

In addition, freshman Chris Barron shot a final-day 72 for a 236 total (tie for 39th). Senior Matt Gallant finished in a 41st-place tie with a 237 (80-77-80), while freshman Yoshio Yamamoto (80-79-79=238) was tied for 43rd.
