Extended and Distance Education announces Spring 2008 courses

Need to know how to use a Microsoft software program, or want to learn American sign language? Consider enrolling in a course through the APSU Center for Extended and Distance Education.

On-site and online courses are offered in various disciplines and development purposes. Those courses available on site include the following:
• Personal Computing Basics
• QuickBooks
• Adobe Acrobat
• Microsoft Word, Excel or Access (basic or intermediate)

• Drawing (basic or intermediate)
• Practical Calligraphy
• Watercolor Painting (basic or intermediate)
• Prismacolor and Mixed Media
• Parenting 101 (in partnership with the Family Guidance Training Institute)
• STEP Light for Women
• ACT Prep

The Center also offers more than 300 online courses through Ed2Go in graphic design, digital photography and video, writing and publishing, accounting, grant writing and many other topic. Fees for those courses begin at $79.
In addition, the Center partners with Gatlin Education Services — a provider of Web-based, instructor-supported training for colleges and universities — to offer career development online certificate programs in digital arts, advanced medical coding, HVAC, home inspection, medical transcription, multimedia design, paralegal certification, project management and many more. Any of the programs can be completed within a six-month delivery window.

Registration is under way and continues until classes have filled or started. Students must register and pay fees through the Center's office before attending class. There are four ways to enroll in a class:
• By telephone using a VISA or MasterCard credit or debit card, call 221-7816 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
• By mail, make checks payable to APSU. Send a completed registration form with a check, money order, debit or credit card authorization to APSU Center for Extended and Distance Education, P.O. Box 4678, Clarksville, TN 37044.
• By facsimile, send registration form with signed credit card authorization to 221-7748.
• In person, visit the Center located at 106 Public Square, Clarksville, between 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Students who register at least 15 business days before the start date of the class will receive a 10 percent discount on the course fee. The discount does not apply to online and contract classes. A senior citizen discount also is available. Only one discount is allowed per registration.

And the Center offers classes through the Tennessee Small Business Development Center. Those classes are free and open to the public. Some of those include Building Your Business Foundation, Secrets of the IRS, Small Business Health Care and Make Your Business Grow.
