Entrepreneur magazine has named Belmont University one of the top 10 schools in the nation with an “entrepreneurial emphasis.” Belmont offers undergraduate and graduate- level classes in entrepreneurship. Two other Midstate schools are increasing their focus on entrepreneurship—Tennessee Tech and Vanderbilt—which are collaborating to develop an “online learning environment” where student can learn how to create viable businesses based on real-world case studies. Charles Manning, chancellor of the Tennessee Board of Regents, announced that the TBR has stopped its search for an executive vice president for Tennessee State University, since TSU President James Hefner now is against the idea. (The Tennessean, 5/12/04)
