The state has agreed to pay $5 million for new academic programs and enhancements to existing programs at Tennessee State University's downtown campus over the next five years. The money was included in the 2001 Geier settlement, which dictates the historically black university strive to become more attractive to students of all races. (The Tennessean, 3/26/04)
